Public Hearing Notice | Pitt Area Transit System
Important – While the state or federal regulations do not require a public hearing, it can be conducted if required locally.
Section 5311 (ADTAP), 5310, 5339, 5307 and applicable State funding, or combination thereof.
This is to inform the public that a public hearing will be held on the proposed Pitt Area Transit System’s Community Transportation Program Application to be submitted to the North Carolina Department of Transportation no later than October 2, 2026. The public hearing will be held on September 14th at 6:00 PM before the (governing board) Pitt County Board of Commissioners.

The Community Transportation Program provides assistance to coordinate existing transportation programs operating in Pitt County as well as provides transportation options and services for the communities within this service area. These services are currently provided using Light Transit Vehicles, Vans and Lifted Equipped Vehicles. Services are rendered by Pitt Area Transit System.
The total estimated amount requested for the period July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2028.
NOTE: Local share amount is subject to State funding availability.
